Opportunity
The DART Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART).  The DART Coordinator is a leader who is responsible for keeping the DART Team organized and acts as a primary contact for the DART program within specific hospitals/care centres.  DART is a partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) Emergency Room Staff in which the Coordinator provides supports to clients. DART will provide no cost, 24/7 specialized services to victims of domestic violence. The position is responsible and accountable for conducting oneself appropriately in a crisis while engaging with clients from various cultural backgrounds within the settings of the Camrose Hospital and the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre.

Description:
The Dart Coordinator:
  • Will require advanced or specialized skills and knowledge to support clients in the Emergency Departments of the St. Mary’s Hospital and the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre
  • May encounter clients with visible signs of assault and injuries as a result of domestic violence
  • Must maintain professional composure, be non-judgmental and exhibit empathy
  • Will have knowledge of domestic violence and community resources, and the ability to provide information and local community referrals/resources to individuals experiencing domestic violence
  • Will demonstrate skills in completing documentation in an accurate, concise, detailed and professional format and have a clear understanding of CWS policies and procedures, and an awareness of pertinent AHS policies
  • Must be able and willing to collaborate with and work as part of a team while providing safe, quality client care.
  • Other duties as required by the CWSS organization

  • Primary Location: Camrose Women’s Shelter, Camrose Hospital; Wetaskiwin Hospital & Care Centre
  • TEMPORARY FTE
  • Date Available: As soon as the position is filled
  • Length of Employment: until September 30, 2021
  • Hours per Shift:  9 hours 
  • Shift per cycle:  Shifts to be determined
  • Shift Pattern: Weekdays and On-Call for nights. Works in conjunction with Shelter CIW’s. If the call requires you to attend the Emergency Department, you will flex the hours the following day.
  • Salary Range: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
  • Salary Classification:  Out-of-Scope/Non-Union
  • Vehicle Requirement: Valid Driver’s License, Vehicle Required
  • Travel: Travel is required

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a degree in a Human Sciences field (i.e. Social work, psychology) or related AHS experience
  • Experience in working with survivors of domestic violence
  • Previous experience working within an environment of crisis and trauma is desirable
  • Experience in conducting a needs assessment and safety planning with victims of domestic violence
  • Experience with building relationships in rural, Indigenous and other cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Be able to work in multiple work settings
  • Trauma informed training is an asset
  • Proficiency with computer skills in Microsoft suite, Excel, Outlook is an asset, able to maintain a database and reporting criteria

Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Current Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Current First Aid, CPR, plus criminal record and child welfare checks are required to start

The Camrose Women’s Shelter follows current Alberta Health Services COVID-19 safety protocols and will provide appropriate PPE for the candidate. Applicants will not be considered if they have travelled internationally within the past 14 days or if they present with COVID-19 related symptoms.
